Newark Police are looking into the possibility of a self-inflicted gunshot wound that caused the death of a person found in a neighborhood that borders the city's West and Central wards Wednesday night.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to an address in the 400 block of Central Avenue after receiving reports of a person injured at around 9 p.m.
Police officers arrived and found an unidentified person suffering a fatal gunshot wound according to reports.
There were no immediate reports of an active and ongoing homicide investigation from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
