My friends and family in the Newark and North Jersey region should plan extra time for your commute as heavy rain is expected to make driving a little tricky through the day.

Early this morning, a line of heavy rain swept through the Newark and North Jersey region, bringing along with it heavy humidity.

According to The National Weather Service, scattered rain showers are expected throughout the day and will likely intensify in the afternoon.

There is also a possibility of thunderstorms, especially before 2 pm. Some of these storms may produce heavy rainfall, leading to potential concerns for localized flooding.

NWS meteorologist said the high temperature for today is expected to reach around 84 degrees, and the south wind will blow at a speed of 7 to 10 mph. The humidity levels are notably high, reaching up to 94%.

These weather conditions create an atmosphere that feels quite muggy and uncomfortable.

Keep an umbrella handy and be mindful of the possibility of sudden downpours.
