Police in Kearny arrested an Essex man on Thursday for a slashing incident in the Kearny Point section of town.According to a statement from Kearny Police officials, officers were called to the 40's block of Western Road shortly before 1:55 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police found a 24-year-old Newark resident with a slash wound to his wrist.
Kearny Police Sergeant Mike Gontarczuk reported that the victim's injuries were non-life-threatening, and he received treatment at the scene.
Authorities charged 45-year-old Mr. Noel T. Riddick of Orange with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon, among other charges.Riddick was lodged in nearby Hudson County Jail.
The motive for the attack is currently under active investigation.
