Early in the morning, at around 2 a.m., Essex County Sheriff officers patrolling the area of 16th Avenue and South 17th Street made a significant breakthrough.
They came across a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle connected to a recent shooting incident in Newark.
During their investigation of the vehicle, law enforcement officers made an arrest when they discovered an individual inside the vehicle with a loaded weapon.
It remains unclear whether this firearm was used in the unspecified shooting that prompted the initial investigation.
The arrested person is believed to be linked to the shooting incident under investigation. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence as the investigation progresses.
The suspect is now in custody and will face legal proceedings as authorities work to determine their involvement in the alleged shooting.
