Essex County Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Electric Scooter on I-280

New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of an Essex County man on I-280 in Hudson County early Sunday morning.AdAccording to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, troopers responded to the scene of the accident on August 25th at 4:34 a.m. near milepost 16 in Kearny Township.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Fly Wing electric motorcycle, a Ford sedan, a Toyota SUV, and a Dodge sedan were all traveling westbound on the highway.

The crash occurred when the electric motorcycle, driven by 52-year-old Mr. Kyle Silas of Orange collided with the Ford sedan.

Following the initial impact, Silas’s motorcycle was struck by the Toyota, causing him to be ejected. The Dodge sedan then struck Silas, resulting in fatal injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the multi-vehicle crash.AdThis incident marks the second fatality involving an electric scooter on I-280 in the immediate area.

The crash remains under investigation and no further details have been released at this time.
