Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman, Jr., and Raritan Borough Chief of Police Raymond Nolte reported the arrest of 63-year-old Mr. Clemente Lozano of Belleville for drug trafficking last week. Somerset County officials said on the evening of January 23, the Task Force, already familiar with Lozano from previous narcotics cases, received intelligence that he would be arriving in a black Lexus sedan in the Bridgewater Township area, carrying a significant quantity of methamphetamine.
Acting on this information, Task Force members and Bridgewater Township Police established surveillance around Somerset Corporate Blvd.
Their efforts paid off when they spotted Lozano driving a black Lexus south on Route 202/206.
A strategic motor vehicle stop was executed on Route 206 near Bell Avenue, leading to Lozano’s apprehension.
The search that followed resulted in the seizure of approximately five ounces of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $14,200.
Officials said Lozano faces severe charges, including 1st-degree possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) with intent to distribute.
Following his arrest, Lozano was taken to the Somerset County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.
This successful operation marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region, highlighting the combined efforts of local law enforcement agencies in combating narcotics-related crimes.
