On Tuesday, April 25, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested an Essex County man following an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred at a Secaucus hotel.
According to officials, Fokam Parfait, 25, of Montclair, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, a crime of the first degree; Aggravated Assault, a crime of the second degree; and Kidnapping, a crime of the first degree.
Authorities say he was arrested at the Bergen County Jail, where he is currently being detained on similar charges.
The State has filed a Motion for Detention in this matter, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, May 1.
According to officials, on Thursday, March 30, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified that a 28-year-old victim reported being sexually assaulted at a hotel on Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
The victim sustained head and facial injuries and was prevented from leaving the hotel room during the course of the assault.
Parfait met the victim through an online dating app.
