Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of William A. Berry Jr., 46, of Englishtown, on charges of Distributing Cocaine, Possession Of Cocaine, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia.
An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force revealed that William A. Berry Jr. was a distributor of Cocaine in Bergen County.
Officials say in August 2018, Berry distributed approximately 20 grams of Cocaine to an undercover detective of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. On Sept. 4th, Berry also distributed approximately 200 grams of Cocaine to the undercover detective and was then arrested without incident.
Further investigation revealed that Berry was in possession of an additional 8 grams of Cocaine and drug paraphernalia associated with the distribution of narcotics, including a digital scale and numerous small unused plastic baggies.
Police charged him with one count of Distributing A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, one count of Distributing A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, in an amount greater than one-half ounce but less than five ounces, one count of Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, and one count of Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia Associated With The Distribution Of Narcotics.
Officials say he was released on his own recognizance pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on September 19th.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
