Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Veronica Bautista, 32, of Englewood, on charges of Child Abuse.
According to authorities, on April 11th, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency was alerted that a child reported to school in Englewood with significant bruising and other marks of violence.
The Division of Child Protection and Permanency responded to the school and alerted law enforcement.
Police subsequently arrested Veronica Bautista on April 12th and charged her with one count of a New Jersey Title 9 Violation of Child Abuse, a crime of the 4th degree.
Officials said Bautista is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey on May 2nd at 9:30 a.m.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
