An Emergency Medical Technician suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a patient being transported to the hospital went on the attack at a location in East Orange.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 10:35 p.m., police were called to University Hospital to investigate reports of a person who entered the emergency department suffering stab injuries.
Police arrived and found an EMT from Pulse Medical Transportation of East Orange suffering stab wounds to the arm after an emotionally distressed person -the crew were transporting to Clara Mass Hospital- became violent and began to attack.
Newark authorities are attempting to ascertain the location where the attack occurred while the incident remains under an active and ongoing investigation.
The EMT is expected to make a full recovery.
