Police in Elizabeth are investigating a shooting that injured a person in the city on Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the area of Palmer Street to investigate reports of shots fired that rang out just before 12:30 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after searching the area, no victims were found according to reports.
Police say while officers were investigating at the scene, they were notified by Trinitas Hospital officials who reported a gunshot victim who entered the emergency department.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been confirmed at this time.
Police say they are actively investgiating a motive for the shooting.
