Police have taken to social media to remind residents how to stay safe in light of the storm warning issued for Friday.
According to police, a very strong storm predicted for this area has officials reminding residents to take precautions.
A high wind watch is in effect from Friday morning through late Friday night. Strongest winds are expected from Friday afternoon into Friday evening. According to recent predictions sustained winds of at least 40 mph...or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. The weather channel predicts that some gust could reach 75mph.
Damaging winds are capable of downing trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Limited visibilities will make travel difficult.
A deepening coastal low late Thursday night into Friday will bring heavy rain across the area, with the potential for 2 to
3 inches of rainfall. Heavier bands could produce localized higher amounts.
Police said rainfall of this amount may cause flooding in some areas. Officials remind residents not drive attempt to drive through flooded areas. It may be deeper than it appears and you may get stuck.
Be prepared for power outages. Have your cell phones charged in case of emergencies.
