Elizabeth, Newark, Irvington, Bound Brook Suspects Arrested for Drug Related Charges after Multiple Citizen Complaints in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose and Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino report that Newark Police, as part of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, arrested eight individuals, including six from out of town, for wandering for purchase or possession of CDS.

According to Authorities, in response to complaints regarding narcotics activity in the 400-block of Irvine Turner Boulevard, detectives conducted an operation in which two women and six men were arrested last night.

Arrested for CDS Possession are Mr. Arnold Franklin, 62, charged with Possession of CDS (heroin) and an outstanding warrant; and Mr. Vincent Mendez, 59, accused of Possession of CDS (heroin and cocaine) and an outstanding warrant. Both men are from Newark.

The following suspects, all from Elizabeth, were also arrested: Mr. Bryant McMorris, 54, and Mr. Jeorge Davila, 49, both charged with Possession of CDS (heroin); and Mr. Victor Thomas, 57, and Ms. Cynthia Jackson, 55, both accused of Wandering with the Intent to Purchase CDS.

Victor Lloyd, 50, of Irvington, was also arrested and charged with Possession of CDS (heroin). As was Ms. Janice Bowers, 56, of Bound Brook, who authorities accused of Wandering with the Intent to Purchase CDS.

“I commend the members of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, including members of the Newark Police Division, for their vigilance in addressing citizen concerns and arresting those in possession of CDS or wandering to purchase CDS,” Director Ambrose said. “These law enforcement officers responded to residents’ complaints and took the necessary action to rid their neighborhood of this criminal activity.”

These charges are merely accusations.

Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
