Elizabeth Man Strikes, Injures 12-Year-Old Linden Boy with Car

A Linden boy attempting to cross to an area park was taken to the hospital after he was struck and injured by a vehicle Sunday.

Police responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the 800 block of North Wood Avenue Sunday at approximately 6:07 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found the pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, had been struck by a 2005 Volvo - driven by a 90-year-old Elizabeth resident - as the child attempted to cross North Wood Avenue.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Volvo was travelling south on N. Wood Avenue when the boy crossed from mid-block.

The boy was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he is currently listed in stable condition after suffering from several broken bones.

According to police, his injuries appear to be non-life threatening at this time.

A follow up investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau is being conducted.

There are no charges at this time.
