Elizabeth Man Stabbed in Broad Daylight

Police are investigating a stabbing that sent the 31-year-old victim to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to 34 Reid Street at approximately 2:26 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, a 31-year-old Elizabeth man, who stated that while walking on Elizabeth Avenue near Rt. 1 & 9, he was approached by three males (no further description), in which the victim has had an ongoing dispute with for some time now.

Authorities said two of the males immediately began to punch him. During the assault, the victim reportedly felt a sharp pain in his left leg.

The suspects fled, and the victim noticed that he had a laceration on his left leg near his hip.

Arriving units searched the area, but did not locate the suspects.

The victim was transported to University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and expected to be released.
