After years of litigation in a federal civil lawsuit, a 34-year-old man injured by an Elizabeth police officer is set to receive a $750,000 settlement.
According to reports, on March 1, 2013, Sharif Tankard, encountered several officers at Oakwood Plaza after a dispute allegedly ensued between a group of men. They said Tankard was ultimately shot after he reportedly disarmed an officer and threatened to shoot him.
However, a grand jury, rejected the charges and cleared Tankard of any wrongdoing.
It is unclear at this time if officers involved will face any disciplinary action as a result of the settlement.
