Police continue to investigate a serious multi-vehicle crash that appears to have been caused after an Elizabeth man lost control of his vehicle.
According to police, officers responded to E. Edgar Rd (US Route 1) which was closed for approximately two hours on Nov. 24th while the Linden Police Department Accident Investigation Unit worked to determine the cause of a serious motor vehicle crash shortly after 2 p.m.
Officers responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on East Edgar Road at South Park Avenue.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Jahrelle Murphy of Elizabeth, 28, was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV northbound on E. Edgar Rd when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a 2008 Honda Pilot, driven by Santos Calderon of Linden, 57.
Murphy and Calderon were both transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment of moderate, non-life threatening injuries and were last listed in stable condition.
Two additional vehicles, a 2010 Honda Accord and a 2017 Jaguar were also involved in the collision. The drivers of those vehicles were treated on scene for minor injuries and released.
There are no charges at this time, however the collision remains under investigation.
