Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Robert Hubner, director of the Woodbridge Police Department, announced that an Elizabeth man was arrested today and charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he met on Facebook.
Larousse Joseph, 20, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of the child.
He remains in custody, and is waiting bail to be set.
Joseph was arrested and charged after officers on patrol saw the defendant and the girl engaging in sexual relations in a car parked on Martin Street in Woodbridge at 12:31 a.m. today.
An investigation by Detective George Stilwell of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Timothy Laughery of the Woodbridge Police Department determined that the defendant met the girl on Facebook.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
