An Elizabeth man is in custody after being found to be in possession of approximately three kilograms of the designer drug commonly referred to as “Molly” and a handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Tuesday.
Herby Desir, 27, is charged with two second-degree drug offenses, two second-degree weapons offenses, and three additional lesser related charges.
An investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office’s Guns, Gangs, Drugs, and Violent Crimes Task Force recently revealed that Desir allegedly has been involved with the recent distribution of “Molly” within the City of Elizabeth, and he was arrested without incident this morning at his home on the 100 block of Community Lane.
A search of Desir’s residence turned up the three kilograms of Molly, a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of more than $175,000, plus a loaded Taurus .44-caliber handgun and a little more than $700 in cash.
Desir was lodged in Union County Jail, with bail set at $200,000 by state Superior Court Judge Robert J. Mega. Second-degree crimes typically carry penalties of five to 10 years in state prison upon conviction.
