According to Maryland Transportation Authority 68-year-old Rosendo Perez-Torres of Elizabeth, was arrested after a traffic stop in Maryland led to the discovery of nearly 4,000 pack of untaxed cigarettes.
Police pulled Perez-Torres on Interstate 95 North in Baltimore County after they spotted his rear license plate was obscured.
Upon a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found more than 300 cartons (approximately valued at $25,000) in the trunk of the vehicle.
Perez-Torres was allegedly transporting untaxed cigarettes from North Carolina to New Jersey.
He was charged with unlawful possession of unstamped cigarettes and was held on $10,000 bail.
