Police arrested an Elizabeth man this morning after he allegedly fled from the scene of an armed robbery in Roselle Park.
Police responded the Family Dollar, located at 7 E. Westfield, for a report of an armed robbery at approximately 9:50 a.m., Sergeant Dominick Frino said.
The store employee told police that a man with a black semi-automatic handgun entered the store and fled with approximately $300 in cash.
The store employee described the suspect as a male in his 20s, approximately 5’7, medium build, that was wearing a black jacket and hood, said the sergeant.
Responding officers located a male walking on the 100 block of Chestnut Street who fit the description. The male, later identified as Jamaal Parham, 21, of Elizabeth, was found in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana, along with several hollow point bullets, added Frino.
A further search revealed proceeds from the robbery and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
Parham was arrested without incident and charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, terroristic threats, theft, aggravated assault, possession of hollow point bullets, D.P. possession of CDS marijuana.
He was lodged into the Union County Jail on $150,000 bail.
