Elderly Man Critically Struck by Hit-and-Run ATV in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of an ATV that struck a 76-year old male pedestrian at Broad and Bridge streets today.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at around 4:03 p.m., police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck.

Police have determined, from witness accounts, that after striking the victim, the male driver fled the scene heading southbound on Broad Street with the other ATVs and other accompanying motorcycles.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where he is in critical, but stable condition Director Ambrose said.
