Authorities in Atlantic County announced that Shawn P. Duffy, 39, from Egg Harbor Township, has been charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash and second-degree vehicular homicide.
Officials stated that on February 6, 2024, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Duffy was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Steelmanville Road in Egg Harbor Township.
Duffy’s vehicle allegedly struck a bicyclist and fled the scene, officials said.
The bicyclist, officials say, Neil G. Burman, 68, from Egg Harbor Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene because of the injuries he sustained.
According to officials, subsequent investigation revealed Duffy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the motor vehicle crash.
