Police in Jersey City are investigating a Sunday night carjacking that sent the 26-year-old Edison woman to the hospital.
Police responded to Arlington Avenue at about 1 a.m. Monday where they met a 26-year-old Edison woman whose Chevy Equinox had been carjacked at approximately 11 p.m.
According to police, the woman's victim male friend was driving the car with temporary plates toward West Side Avenue when they observed a garbage truck blocking the street.
The driver attempted to reverse to take an alternate route when two women reportedly began yelling "you hit my car." A women and a man approached the car and ordered the occupants out of the car.
The driver got out of the vehicle and ran away, while the female stayed inside the car. Subsequently, the other two women broke the passengers side window and pulled the victim
out of the vehicle.
The male took off in the victim's car while the other two women attacked the Edison woman before fleeing on foot.
Two passerby drove the victim to Arlington Avenue, where she contacted police.
The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for her injuries.
A crime scene was established on Clinton Avenue.
The investigation is ongoing.
