Edison Man Shot, Killed at Family Business in Irvington

Authorities have identified the fatal victim as a 28-year-old Edison man who was shot and killed at his family's business in Irvington today. 

Police responded to Roseway Liquors and Deli - located at 701 Lyons Avenue - at approximately 4 p.m., where Amit H. Patel was found suffering from a gunshot wound, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said in a statement.

It is still unclear what caused the shooting but authorities are investigating whether it may have been a result of a robbery. 

Patel succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  

No arrests have been made, as of this afternoon.
