An early morning fire that tore through a house in Edgewater has fire officials investigating the cause.
Edgewater firefighters, with the assistance from Fort Lee and Englewood Cliffs fire companies, battled a severe fire that ignited inside a home that was reportedly under construction according to officials.
Firefighters were dispatched to Casta La shortly before 3:00 a.m. for reports of a fire at that location.
According to officials, a house under construction that was being built directly against the side of the Palisades Cliffs, caught fire.
Steep dead end streets hampered crews ability to get to the structure due to icing conditions.
It took firefighters about two hours to bring the fire under control with no initial reports of injuries.
The home that was nearing completion suffered a collapsed roof and rear wall according to officials.
The cause is under investigation.
