East Orange Women Accused of Assaulting Officer at Newark Airport

Two East Orange woman were arrested after they allegedly beat up a police officer at Newark Liberty International Airport yesterday.

According to Port Authority Police, an uniformed Port Authority officer asked the driver of a vehicle that was blocking two lanes of traffic to move. The driver, later identified as Nephatira Dansby, 24, began shouting and cursing at the officer, police said.

The officer than initiated a traffic stop, Dansby pulled over but as the officer approached the vehicle, Dansby allegedly hit the officer with her door. 41-year-old Katrina Dansby, mother of Nephatira, joined the altercation, according to police.

Police claim that Katrina grabbed the officer while her Nephatira punched the officer. 

Responding officers placed both women under arrest.

They were both charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction of administrative law, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. 

The pair is expected to appear in court on Feb. 25.

The officer suffered injuries to her face and her knee, according to police. She was transported to Trinitas Hospital for treatment.
