A shooting that had a man injured in Newark's South Ward in late January has police making an arrest.
According to Newark authorities, their Fugitive Apprehension Team has arrested a 17-year-old male from East Orange and charged him with the Sunday, January 29, 2017, shooting.
According to police, shortly after 10 p.m., a 25-year old Newark male arrived at University Hospital seeking treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, which detectives determined had occurred in the area of Clinton Avenue and Chadwick Avenues.
Police said based on their investigation, detectives identified the juvenile suspect in this shooting, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
"Today, detectives arrested the youth without incident. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose" Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
