The East Orange School District (EOSD) enthusiastically participated in National Read Across America Week from March 3 to March 7, joining the nationwide effort to promote literacy and instill a love of reading in students of all ages.
Throughout the week, EOSD schools hosted a variety of engaging activities aimed at fostering a passion for books and lifelong learning.

Students, teachers, and community members came together for guest read-aloud sessions, themed dress-up days, book fairs, and interactive literacy events led by District English Language Arts (ELA) Supervisor Ms. Bridgett Green.
"Read Across America Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the importance of literacy in our schools and community," said Ms. Green.
"This initiative encourages students to appreciate the power of books, broadening their perspectives and deepening their understanding of different cultures and ideas.
Through exciting activities such as guest readings, book-themed events, and collaborative challenges, we reinforce the idea that reading is a gateway to new worlds and lifelong learning."
Superintendent Dr. Christopher C. Irving emphasized the district’s commitment to literacy, stating, "Reading is the foundation of all learning, and we are dedicated to helping our students develop a love for books. Read Across America Week is a wonderful chance to highlight the joy of reading and inspire students to become lifelong readers."
The East Orange School District encourages parents and community members to continue fostering literacy at home by reading with their children and supporting literacy initiatives throughout the year.
