Police in East Orange are investigating a strong-arm robbery involving a vehicle stolen Sunday night, which was later recovered in neighboring Newark.The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 247 Freeway Drive East.
Responding officers met with the victim, who reported that a suspect forcibly stole their vehicle. Police confirmed that no weapon was used during the robbery.
A "Be On the Lookout" (BOLO) alert was issued for the stolen vehicle, which was located shortly after near the Comfort Suites Hotel on McCarter Highway in Newark.
The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived and remains at large.
Investigators are working to determine whether the vehicle was left running with the keys inside, which may have facilitated the theft.
No physical injuries were reported during the incident.
