A shots fired incident that rang out on the border of Newark-East Orange border has authorities investigating.
According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter activation alerted Newark Police of a shooting that occurred in the 40's block of Springdale Avenue at approximately 5:50 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene began to canvas the area and found evidence that a shooting occurred on the East Orange side of the border but no victims were found according to reports.
Newark authorities contacted East Orange police officials who reportedly took over the investigation.
The shooting is one of two violent gunfire episodes that occurred in East Orange in less than seven days with one of the incidents resulting in the murder of a 19-year-old male who was found shot multiple times while occupying a car in the city.
