Quyri Patrick, 26, and his co-defendant, Kourtney Chavis, 29, both of East Orange, were sentenced today in connection with the gang-related beating death of a Bloods gang member.
On August 30, 2011, Patrick, a ranking member of the gang, ordered Chavis and two other members to 'discipline' Pierrejules for being "disrespected by a rival gang banger in the back of Cleveland Street garage in Orange, authorities said.
During the 'discipline, Pierrejules hit his head on a brick wall. He was taken to University Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Patrol and Chavis must serve 85 percent of their sentences before becoming eligible for parole but will each receive credit for more than three years of time served.
Two others involved in the attack, one committed suicide while the other one is awaiting sentencing.
