Clifton Police confirmed a series of food delivery robberies throughout North Jersey occurring on December 13th.
Police say at approximately 9 p.m., a food delivery person was robbed at knifepoint as she attempted to deliver later, determined to be a bogus address, according to officials.
Police say the victim approached the area of delivery, she became apprehensive when she could not locate the exact address, officials say at that time, she observed a female (standing in a nearby driveway) directing her to exit her vehicle.
When the victim refused, the female approached and attempted to gain access to the vehicle's passenger side forcefully; officials said at the same time, a male appeared out of the darkness and began tapping a knife on the driver's side window of the victim's vehicle.
The victim fled the scene in her vehicle and drove to police headquarters for her safety.
Officers began searching the area for the suspects and, although unsuccessful at first, eventually located two individuals near a bus stop on Broad Street, officials say.
Upon further investigation, Clifton Police said officers determined that these were the suspects responsible for the attempted robbery.
While taking them into custody, officers found a loaded handgun on the juvenile female suspect.
Officials say a knife, presumably used during the commission of the crime, was found a short distance from where the suspects were located.
Police charged a 17-year-old Newark female with Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.
According to Clifton Police, Najim Wadud, 18, of East Orange, was charged with Robbery, weapons-related offenses, and Employing a Juvenile in the Commission of a Crime.
