East Orange Man Arrested for Cherry Hill Investors Bank Armed Robbery

Camden County authorities reported that an East Orange man has been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of the Investors Bank in Cherry Hill, that occurred on December 22, 2022. 

According to officials, William Ray, 42, of East Orange, is accused of entering the Investors Bank at 1951 Route 70 in Cherry Hill at approximately 4:43 p.m. on December 22, 2022, and holding the employees at gunpoint.

Officials say Ray allegedly attempted to lock the employees in a vault before fleeing with more than $76,000 in cash. 

On December 30, 2022, at approximately 6:00 a.m., detectives from Camden County, the FBI, and East Orange authorities executed a search warrant at Ray’s residence in East Orange.

Following the execution of the search warrant, Ray was charged on December 30 and was wanted on the following offenses:

1. Two counts of 1st-degree Robbery 

2. One count of 2nd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose 

3. One county of 2nd-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 

4. One count of 2nd degree Certain Persons not to have Weapons 

5. Two counts of 4th degree Aggravated Assault 

According to authorities, following further investigation by detectives of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Cherry Hill Police Department, Ray was located and arrested in Passaic by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and Newark Division.

Ray is currently in custody at the Camden County Correctional Facility.
