After dozens of search warrants, East Orange and Newark police charged 45 people in connection to an ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking rings.
According to police, the drugs rings were led by various members and affiliates of local members of the Brick City Brim, Salem Street Gangsters and PIRU sets of the Bloods. The investigation - so-called Operation Borderland -began in June after police executed a dozen search warrants, seizing multiple quantities of marijuana, heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $53,780. Authorities also recovered seven loaded firearms, $48,000 in cash and eleven vehicles.

All 45 suspects were charged with a range of drug-related offenses, including possession and manufacturing of heroin and cocaine.
Warrants have been issued for several additional suspects still being sought by police.
