This image was taken by one of our followers in the Newark area during an early morning rain storm that produced localized flooding and lightning strikes throughout Northen New Jersey.
Forecasters tracked the storm that rolled across the central U.S., setting the stage for severe thunderstorms and widespread heavy rainfall on early Saturday morning.
According to forecasters, the fast moving storm began at around 5 a.m. in some parts of NJ dropping several inches of rain and causing more that 2000 lightning strikes throughout the region.
Lightning struck several houses in NJ, but no serious injuries reported.
The storm has passed, and forecasters are predicting clear skies with temperatures reaching near 80 degrees today.
