Newark Police are actively investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the downtown district early this morning.
Around 3:30 a.m., officers were called to Commerce Street near Mulberry following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, police units began canvassing the area, particularly focusing on the business district.
During their search, officers found several shell casings, but fortunately, no victims were reported injured. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear and is part of an active and ongoing investigation.
Currently, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Newark Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to assist with the investigation as they continue to piece together the events that led to the gunfire.
