Fire officials in Newark are looking into the cause of a fire that broke out inside a bank in the city's Ironbound section Sunday.
Reports of an early morning fire on the Adams Street side of the Santander Bank had firefighters on the scene around 4:16 a.m.
Crews arrived and stretched several lines after they noticed heavy smoke coming from the ATM vestibule of the bank.
About a dozen firefighters successfully knocked down flames inside the building in under an hour, with a search of the structure indicating no trapped or injured occupants.
Heavy flames caused extensive damage to the lobby and front of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
