An early morning fire in Jersey City on Monday displaced more than 10 residents and left several people injured.The blaze erupted in the basement of a six-story multi-family building on Gifford Avenue, prompting a swift response from the Jersey City Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found flames spreading through the structure.
Crews quickly stretched multiple lines to combat the fire and managed to bring it under control.
Despite their efforts, four individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Many residents escaped the burning building using fire escapes.
The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the displaced residents, offering shelter and support as they recover from the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under active investigation by the Jersey City Fire Department.
