An early morning raid that was conducted by The Federal Bureau of Investigation closed Orange City Hall according to a spokesperson for the agency.
The FBI agents returned with a new warrant, were investigators were in search of evidence of alleged theft and accepting corrupt payments, theft of federal government funds, wire fraud, extortion, money laundering, conspiracy to commit the crimes, and aiding and abetting the alleged crimes.
According to the new search warrant, investigators were on the search for documents, including emails, texts, and other electronic correspondences, related to a list of agencies and people who work for or have dealt with the
city.
The following three city employees were specifically mentioned in the search warrant: Anthony Carey, who oversees the water department; Willis Edwards and Tyshammie Cooper, both mayor's appointees.
Reports of corruption and extortion charges had the FBI at the city's library several months ago.
According to officials, City Hall is expected to open at 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
There have been no arrests made.
