Police in Newark have launched an investigation into a reported carjacking that occurred on the city's West and Central ward border Saturday morning.
According to police, an armed suspect targeted the victim in the area of South Orange and Fairmont avenue before 4:30 a.m.
Police say the victim was ordered out of their black Jeep Cherokee Wrangler at gunpoint by the suspect only described as a black male.
According to police, the vehicle has an NJ licenses plate number, "E95-MDN".
There were no physical injuries immediately reported.
