Newark's South Ward was the scene of a shooting early Monday morning, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.Around 3:55 a.m., police were alerted to gunfire through a ShotSpotter activation near 56 Hansbury Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers quickly secured the area, finding shell casings but, after a thorough search, no victims.
The Newark Shooting Response Team was called in to aid with the investigation, but despite the evidence of gunfire, the absence of injuries has provided some relief to residents in the community.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains a mystery.
Police are continuing to investigate.
