Kenilworth High School students witnessed a national two-day event called “Every 15 Minutes," which re-enacts a real-life car crash in participation of student actors, firefighters, police and EMS response team.
A program organized by the Kenilworth Police Department in conjunction with Morristown Medical Center, Kenilworth Fire department, first aid squad and school officials and students.
The stimulation began Thursday morning, with a police officer entering several classrooms and selecting a student every 15 minutes to represent the statistics of life lost.
In the afternoon, a stimulated accident caused by a drunk teen driver was re-enacted showing all that attended, the serious consequences that can result.
The second day an assembly took place where students, police officers, medical and hospital personnel spoke.
A guest speaker, whose life was forever impacted by a drunk driving car crash was also present.
This is the 6th time this program has been presented in various schools around Union County including Roselle Park and New Providence among others.
