Police in Newark are looking for the drivers of two vehicles who fled the scene of separate crashes in Newark overnight.
In the first incident, police responded to reports of a crash with injuries near the intersection of Hayes and Frelinghuysen avenues before 11:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle overturned with no trapped occupants. Witnesses said the driver self-extricated then ran from the scene.
According to police, at approximately 3:20 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the area of 14th Avenue and South 8th Street to investigate reports of a crash.
Crews arrived and found a vehicle slammed into a tree at that location.
Rescue personnel checked the car and found no occupants inside. Witnesses said the driver sprinted from the scene.
Both suspects remain at large.
