One person suffered severe injuries after the car that they were occupying lost control and slammed into a home in Irvington Township on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the collision took place in the vicinity of Coit Street and Paine Avenue at approximately 1:20 a.m.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found that a car left the roadway then rolled over before striking a house then a light pole that came down on parked cars.
The male victim inside the car was rushed to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and remained in serious condition.
Officials have not confirmed if the car was involved in a police pursuit prior to the crash, but residents on the block said the vehicle was traveling at excessive speeds with a patrol car arriving shortly after the collision.
Irvington Township Police were not available for public information.
