Police in Newark are on the search for the driver of a car that struck a pedestrian on a street in the city then drove away during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Roseville Avenue and Orange Street to investigate reports of an injured person at approximately 10 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene requested EMS on a rush when they found the unidentified victim suffering serious injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the patient.
There was no description of the fleeing vehicle immediately released.
The incident remains under investigation.
