New Jersey State Police officials are looking into the cause of a wreck that severely injured a man on a highway in Ocean County.
According to a statement released by NJ State Police, the collision occurred Saturday at 9:42 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Beechwood Borough, Ocean County.
Officials said a preliminary investigation indicated that in the area of milepost 80, a Dodge Ram pickup ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the guard rail, and overturned.
State Police said the driver was ejected and sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash.
EMS rushed the driver to an area hospital and he was listed in serious condition.
Police closed the center and right lanes for approximately 4 1/2 hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
