Several people including a Cranford Police Officer were transported to an area hospital after a driver who attempted to escape a car on the Garden State Parkway ended up crashing into several vehicles.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened in the vicinity of mile marker 137 where the driver of a vehicle collided with a car in the left lane of the highway.
When the vehicles pulled over for the police investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles attempted to speed away, ultimately rear-ending the police car and crashing into at least two other vehicle reports said.
The fleeing vehicle then lost control and ended up in the woods.
EMS transported about three victims to the hospital all suffering non-life threatening injuries according to reports.
Police are actively investigating.
