Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a multi-car crash that damaged over a dozen cars and sent several people to the hospital on a highway in Newark.
According to preliminary reports, the crash happened in the southbound lanes of Route 1&9 Truck lanes -just at the Passaic River Draw Bridge- where crews arrived to find about 16 cars damaged on the highway at around 3:30 a.m.
Police say, just under a half dozen victims suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision that they believe had to do with drag racing.
Kearny Police officials shut down all lanes of the highway for the active and ongoing investigation.
