Newark Public Safety officials report that Police have apprehended eight shooting suspects during the first three weeks of November.
According to Police, Shuran Solomon, 24, of Irvington, and Derek Smith, 37, of Newark, were each arrested in connection with a November 16, shooting at South 12th Street near 9th Avenue.
Police say, two victims arrived at East Orange General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.
Solomon and Smith face charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
Sharif McLean, 33, of Newark, was identified as a suspect in a shooting that occurred on October 8, at Verona Avenue near Broadway.
According to officials, responding officers located a man who had been shot.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Officials say, McLean faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
Nyreem Leecraft, 23, of Staten Island, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 10, at the 200 block of Clinton Avenue.
According to Police, a driver flagged down police in the area, reporting that he had been shot during an attempted robbery.
Police say, the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.
Leecraft faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, robbery, possession of prohibited weapons, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
According to officials, Almalik Walker, 29, of East Orange, was arrested for the discharge of a firearm on September 14, at the 700 block of South 20th Street.
No injuries have been reported in this incident.
Officials say, Walker faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
William Miles, 23, of Newark, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on November 7, at St. Charles Street near Komorn Street.
Responding officers located a man who had been shot. Police say the victim was Mile’s supervisor in the DPW Department.
According to Police, the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Miles faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
Police say, Ramon Copeland, 48, of Newark, was arrested in connection with the November 1, discharge of a firearm at the 100 block of Chelsea Avenue.
Copeland faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
Copeland faces additional charges for a September 25, shooting at Chelsea Avenue near Tremont Avenue, where responding officers located two vehicles struck by gunfire.
Officials say, No injuries have been reported in this incident. Copeland, along with a second suspect, Abraham Watson, 37, of Newark, faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Copeland is also charged with certain persons prohibited from weapon possession in this incident.
